Andrew Low has built a new ride for Massan, Chas from MashSH brought 2 frames over to Jakarta to the Rocket shop and I got to test one of them, the frame was a bit too small for me (56cm) but felt very solid. Now I guess we just have to sit and wait for some videos to surface on vimeo with the new frame…
Back in Shanghai after a fantastic week in Jakarta competing in the FixedFest. The people from Rocket and all the locals helping out created a fantastic event, over 500 participants only in the alley cat is pretty mind blowing for a scene only 15 month old. I have never seen more rare and nice bicycles in one place before. Rocket is not a bicycle shop, its a bike porn museum, make sure to take some time of next time you visit Jakarta and go to all the bicycle shops.
I must have forgot to pay respect to the inner tube gods because I got 2 flats during the alley cat, got another flat during the estafete race together with Gypsy from Brisbane and local rider Banyu Putra Tanzil. We did however manage to go to the next round and finished up 3rd in the final, yeah!
The next event was a mini race in traffic around the competition area, this event went really well and I finished 2nd in the final and won a brand new pearl white MASI frame and a hand full of cash or dingdongs as Gypsy refers to the local currency.
Rocket presents FIXED FEST 2011 from yeah! on Vimeo.
This post contains a bit of mixed stuff
First a pic of me in the criterium tightly followed by Muhammad from Rocket Company
Rocket will also host the next big competition in Jakarta on June 11th so if you are in the region book your flight and head over there.
One of the guys ( Ippe ) involved in the Fixed Fest also came over to Shenzhen for the AFGS and brought a pretty sweet Cinelli Mash frame that won the bike show, pretty sweet eh?
Got two new hats during the weekend in Shenzhen, Gold for first place in the criterium race and silver for second place in the alleycat race. All done on our very own aframe, hope to get some pictures up soon.
Jumped on the plane and I’m now on spot in Shenzhen and will try to rep Shanghai, Sweden and bikeid for the race tomorrow, will be hard since we have no idea where we will race until just prior to the start, but hey it will be a fun event for sure!
Did some changes to my bike last night, new nitto stem and nitto alloy drop bars, strong v grips and a kashimax frame protector to keep me safe. Now I just need to find some time to hit the road.
Finally the Kryptonite evolution locks are now available in the online store. The Kryptonite evolution has been a good friend for many years now so we can highly recommend this lock. It’s a strong and easy to carry with you. We ordered some additional color skins but they did not arrive this time. Give the big bad bicycle thief a challenge and buy the lock here
One of the sponsors Kinfolk posted a picture of their prize, a custom made Kinfolk frame, as everything Kinfolk does this frame looks very nice. Just hope the size match the winner. If you are close to Shenzhen head over to flwrider and register now.
Japanese craftsmanship at its best from Nitto, this beauty will give you a good drop down (58 degree) so you really can dig in. Available here!
